Trends Observatory
What is this about?
The Trends Observatory is an institute for filtering trends, which will be used for prospective monitoring of companies, universities and Walloon economical actors. In this way it is gradually developing, following the progressive formulation of answers to needs identified in the field.
It is guided by collective intelligence logic and is based on existing partner structures:
- external networks of the Wallonia-Brussels International Area (economic and commercial attachs of AWEX,scientific liaison officers and delegates of WBI)
- and internal networks (competitiveness poles, clusters, universities, research centers, interfaces, Agency for technical Stimulation and technological intermediation operators, business federations, etc...).
A digital platform granting access to information generated by the Observatory will be set up soon by AWT.
Who is involved?
All institutions whose mission is to stimulate and fertilize the innovation potential in various fields, as well as all enterprises and Walloon citizens that are curious in this domain.
More precisely?
A first development stage of the trends Observatory was set up in 2011 in order to structure the operating functions; this was worked out around several subsequent stages:
- Filtering of emergences
- Mapping of competences at internal level
- Transmission to external networks of the Wallonia-Brussels International Area
- Reinjection in the internal structure
After a first initiation stage, the application is now tested through tangible projects. In particular, the first missions of the Observatory are based on digitization, digital storage and biosensors.
